I, John Adams, of New London, in thecounty of Hillsborough and State of New Hampshire, husbandman,being weak in body, but of sound and perfect mind and memory,Blessed be Almighty God for the same, do make and publish thismy last will and testament, in Manner and form following, thatis to say,First, I give and bequeath to my son, John Adams, the sum of tendollars to be paid to him by my son, Moses Adams, in one yearafter my decease.I do also give and bequeath to my son, Benjamin Adams, the sumof ten dollars to be paid to him by my son, Moses Adams, in twoyears after my decease.I do also give and bequeath to my son, Solomon Adams, the sum often dollars to be paid to him by my son, Moses Adams, in threeyears after me decease.I do also give and bequeath to my son, Moses Adams, my greatBible, my large and small steelyards, my coarse and fine flaxcombs and my andirons. And I do further give and devise to myson, Moses Adams, his heirs and assigns, all my lanf lying andbeing in the lot No. Ninety-five, in New London, aforesaid, withall my real estate whatsoever, to hold to him, the said MosesAdams, his heirs and assigns forever.I do also give and bequeath to my son, Jonathan Adams, tendollars, to be paid to him by my son, Moses Adams, in four yearsafter my decease.I do also give and bequeath to my daughter, Sarah Brocklebank,two dollars, to be paid by my son, Moses Adams, in five yearsafter my decease.I do also give and bequeath to my grandchildren, the children ofmy daughter, Lois Perkins, deceased, two dollars, to be dividedequally among them and to be paid to them by my son, mosesAdams, in two years after my decease.I do give and bequeath to my grandchildren, the children of mydaughter, Elizabeth Adams, deceased, viz. Israel Adams and JohnAdams, one dollar apiece to be paid to them by my son, MosesAdams, in two years after my decease.I do also give and bequeath to John S. Blaisdell, the husband ofmy daughter, Jean Blaisdell, deceased, one dollar, to be paid tohim by my son, Moses Adams, in five years after my decease.I also give and bequeath to my daughter, Mary Plummer, twodollars, to be paid to her by my son, Moses Adams, in five yearsafter my decease.I fo further give and bequeath to my sons, viz. John Adams,Benjamin Adams, Solomon Adams, Moses Adams, and Jonathan Adams,all my wearing apparel, to be divided among them. I also further give and bequeath to my two daughters, viz. SarahBrocklebank and Mary Plummer, all of my late wife's wearingapparel, to be equally divided between them. And I further giveand bequeath to my children, viz. John Adams, Benjamin Adams,Solomon Adams, Moses Adams, Jonathan Adams, Sara Brocklebank andMary Plummer, all my household goods, except those which areotherwiase disposed of, to be equally divided among them.And lastly, as to all the rest, residue and remainder of mypersonal estate, goods and chattels of what nature and kindsoever, I give and bequeath the same to my son, Moses Adams,whom I hereby appoint sole executor of this, my last will andtestament. i also give him all debts due to me; and I likewiseorder him to pay all my just debts, and bury me decently at mydecease; hereby revoking all former wills made by me. There, he was selectman in 1786 and 1788, and held severalminor town offices. According to the town record, he was on the"Baker Place", Lot #170, in 1784, and probably built the house,the foundation of which could still be seen near the"Brocklebank", the spacious summer hotel erected in 1896 by FredBaxter Gay.
