He inherited by deed of gift, onethird of his father's estate. He dwelt at or near what afterwardbecame Hopedale Corner.Mr. Nelson was early chosen a deacon of the First church inMendon, next of the Second church, and then a ruling elder ofthe latter. He inherited by deed of gift, one-third of hisfather's real estate, and through a long life enjoyed theunlimited confidence of his fellow-Christians andfellow-citizens generally.
