r152 Freeman 1665Will:Essex Probate 310:422Thomas was Town Clerk 1694-6 and died 5 April 1712 according toa family note of his gravestone record which said it was thesecond oldest stone in the town cemetery.Ellery Bicknell Crane's book "Historic Homes and Institutions... Worcester County ..." (1907):"Here Lyes Buried Mr. Thomas Nelson, who died April ye 5th,1712, Aged 77 yearsWho lived a saintlike, harmless life,Loved all good books, but no bad strife,Who dyed a quiet easie deathAnd to Christ resigned his breathSo live, my sons, my Christ O seek,And when you die, like Christ be meek."According to George Blodgette, in 1893 Thomas' stone was stillstanding in the Ancient Rowley Cemetery - 5th row from the mainentrance, on the right side of the entrance road, 1st stone infrom the entrance row.
