Samuel Griggs was a founding member of the First ReligousSociety of the Town of Homer, New York. The Society was formedon 10 Sep 1799, and the annual dues assessed to Samuel was $.50per year, payable each November 1. He served a three-year termas Trustee from 25 Nov 1823 to 24 Nov 1826. In 1825, he servedas the moderator to two meetings, and was styled Samuel Griggs,Esq.In 1818, Samuel was a member of the Farmers and MechanicsSociety in Homer.In his will, Samuel Griggs names a neice Eliza Williams, wife ofJoseph Williams, of Pomfret, CT. He does not specify herparents' names.
