GrandsonsSamuel and Joseph Smith, sons of the eldest son Samuel, werementioned in the 1697 settlement of the estate of this Samuel'sfather.Administration of the estate of Samuel Smith, Jr., late ofEastham, was granted to Batshua Smith, relict, on 1 April 1693,the record mentioning "eldest son" Samuel and "youngest son"Joseph. On 3 July 1714 said sons received their shares fromtheir guardian and "honored father" Samuel Freeman.The will of Samuel Freeman, dated 13 Dec 1742 and proved 10 Feb1742/1743, mentioned, among others, wife Bathsheba, and Samueland Joseph Smith, children of "my wife by her former husband."
