Narrative
Henry was a small boy when his parents went west and he workedon his father's farm in Princeton, Wis. until 1861. On Nov. 11,1861, he enlisted in 3rd Wis. Lt. Art. At the battle ofChickamauga, he was shot through his hip, injuring the nervesand crippling him for life. The wound always gave hime trouble.His clothes showed five more bullet holes. In two minutes thiscompany lost 26 out of 52 men, 31 horses, and 5 out of 6 guns.Weymouth, trying to save the last gun, retreated downhill withit, carrying a shell and a rammer. He was forced to abandon hisattempt halfway down. As the last cannoneer, he was making a lone standagainst overwhelming odds when he was shot. Member of G.A.R. No issue.
