Narrative
John was in Dedham, MA in 1650 and Wrentham afterwards. Heowned almost all of what is now Ogunquit, ME.Made the rank of Lieutenant on 29 May 1668 and placed in commandat Wells, ME in 1675. He made Captain in 1690.Captain John Littlefield lived an active and industrious life.He had a grant of land in 1643 at the same time as his father. He apparently purchased part of his father's property as we findin Edmund's will, "I give unto my son John Littlefield Tenpounds, to be paid out of the forty pounds which he is to payfor his purchase at Ogunquit". [Spelling corrected] This bequestreflects a ten pound reduction of the debt John would owe to hisfather's estate. He was also embroiled in a civil suit over his interest in thelands of the Gorges family in the Moody section of Wells.
