Nathaniel Soule married Rose-----, who has not been identified. She died probably at Dartmouth after May 15, 1702 and probablybefore May, 1708.On March 5, 1667/8 Nathaniel was charged and again on June 3,1668 summoned to Plymouth Colony General Court for telling "apnisous" lie for which he was fined ten shillings. Nathanielof Duxbury and George of Dartmouth filed complaint July 5, 1671against Giles Slocum for unlawful entry on their lands inDartmouth in 1669. The brothers, now of Dartmouth, with othersfiled claims July 7, 1685 for damages on land acquired (bytheir father, Pilgrim George,) from the Indians November 29,1652.Nathaniel Soule died intestate and his widow, Rose, made bond asexecutrix October 12, 1699, with an inventory reported as ofthat day appraising the personal property at 197:16:00. OnOctober 10, 1700 the Probate Court caused "a just and equaldivission of the estate both goods and chattels left by Nath'llSoule late of Dartmouth deceased". This division included thewidow's third which gave her "all the moveables", "NathanielSoul the eldest son as his dubble portion", and equal shares toSilvanus, Jacob and Miles, though minors perhaps over 14 years. This division was dated May 15, 1702 and approved September 10,1702. No guardian assignments and no distribution of the realestate that the will of George Soule snr. and the above citedcourt actions imply have been found. There is no record of thedistribution of widow Rose Soule's undoubtedly substantialestate. In the main land transaction of 1708, son Miles is nota contracting party, yet there is belief that he did not dieuntil 1720.On May 4, 1708 Nathaniel, Sylvanus and Jacob Soul (sec) sons ofNathaniel Soul late of Dartmouth, William and Nathan Soul sonsof George Soul late of Dartmouth and Joseph Davil son-in-law ofsaid George Soule being common proprietors...sold land "givenus by our grandfather George Soul "late of Duxbury. Noexplanation is given in this deed as to how they were "given"this property when their grandfather died 1680 before some ofthem were born or why Mary Devol is the only granddaughterinvolved.Mary, Susannah and Sarah Soule are placed as his daughters fromthe calculated birthdate of Mary, and the fact that Mary andSarah, daughters of George, are positively identified, whileJohn Soule's daughters are well known and in Plymouth County, and neither John nor George had a daughter Susannah.
