In a deposition dated 8 March 1705/6, John Soule swore he was"about Seventy foure years" of age. He married first probably atDuxbury about 1654 Rebecca Simmons, daughter of Moses Simmons,who died probably in Duxbury between 1665 and 1668. By deed, dated 30 December 1674, Moses Simmons in "Considerationof a marriage heretofore consummated between John Soul ofDuxbury and my eldest daughter, Rebecca" gave to John land inMiddleboro.Me married second probably in Duxbury about 1678 Esther (Nash)Sampson, daughter of Lt. Samuel Nash and the widow of SamuelSampson.John Soule died intestate and Esther Soul, widow, was appointedto administer his estate 14 November 1707. His three daughtersor their heirs proposed division of the residuary real estateamongst them since their father "in his lifetime settled all hissons portions in land by deed", and they, the daughters,received but one cow. The settlement was signed by John andRachel Cobb, Edmund and Rebecca Weston and Adam Wright on behalfof his children born to his wife, Sarah, deceased. G. E. Bowman(MD 8:184ff) identifies all the sons of John and abstracts thedeeds of gift to these sons.John Soule was born at Plymouth about 1632; died at Duxburybefore November 14, 1707.
