Last Will and Testament - John Adams, Sr. (1721-1803) recordedin Hillsboro County, NH Probate records #055, Nashua, NHIn the name of God, Amen. I, John Adams, of New London, in thecounty of Hillsborough and State of New Hampshire, husbandman,being weak in body, but of sound and perfect mind and memory,Blessed be Almighty God for the same, do make and publish thismy last will and testament, in Manner and form following, thatis to say,First, I give and bequeath to my son, John Adams, the sum of tendollars to be paid to him by my son, Moses Adams, in one yearafter my decease.I do also give and bequeath to my son, Benjamin Adams, the sumof ten dollars to be paid to him by my son, Moses Adams, in twoyears after my decease.I do also give and bequeath to my son, Solomon Adams, the sum often dollars to be paid to him by my son, Moses Adams, in threeyears after me decease.I do also give and bequeath to my son, Moses Adams, my greatBible, my large and small steelyards, my coarse and fine flaxcombs and my andirons. There, he was selectman in 1786 and 1788, and held severalminor town offices. According to the town record, he was on the"Baker Place", Lot #170, in 1784, and probably built the house,the foundation of which could still be seen near the"Brocklebank", the spacious summer hotel erected in 1896 by FredBaxter Gay.
