Narrative

There is a gravestone for him in the churchyard of the Firstparish Church, Georgetown, (directly across the street from thechurch). His grave is close to the front of the cemetery, verynear the only "table" gravestone. Although quite weathered, theinscription can be read. The stone is substantial, thicker thanmost of that time.In the diptheria epidemic of 1736, seventy-two children inRowley died. The disease was then called "throat distemper".This, in all probablity caused the death of the three childrenof this couple, who died in the summer of 1736: Mehitable Adams,17 Jul 1736; Moses Adams, 26 Jul 1736 and Mary Adams, 6 Aug1736.
