Narrative
He was with Wolfe at the storming of Quebec. While climbing theHeights of Abraham his foot slipped and he fell to the bottomwhich caused such injuries as to result in his death when hereturned to Oswego.Capt. Jacob Bayley's journal reads, "Oswego,Friday Sept. 21, 1759, Cool morning but pleasant. About 2o'clock in the afternoon dies Otho Stevens after a long andtedious illness of 22 days, much lamented by his relations andfriends, he being a loving brother and a faithful friend. He wassensible to the last breath he drew, and sensible of hisapproaching near another world, which did not in the leastruffle his spirits.
