Narrative
Samuel Hatch married Mary Dotey who d. before him. He owned alarge tract of land in Rochester, selling an acreage to JosephDotey in 1704, 54 acres to his son Josiah in 1712 and theremainder to his sons Elisha and Ezekial in 1718. In 1719 hesold 86 acres at Handmer's Hook to Matthew Eastis of Pembrokefor £260.His will dated June 13, 1728, was proved July 7, 1735. To hisson Samuel Hatch he left his sword and one-half of hiscarpenter's tools. To his son Isaac Hatch, his grindstone andone half of his carpenter's tools. He states that he had alreadygiven to Samuel and Isaac his homestead farm in equal shares. Tohis daughter Desire Hatch, a feather bed and its furniture"standing in the Great Tower room which she calls hers," a cow,a chest with drawers, the biggest brass kettle, a frying pan, amare and "my Great Bible." To son Isaac, for life, a share inthe Little Cedar swamp in Hanover, to descend to his sons Isaacand Josiah. To daughters Hannah, Elizabeth Bonney and DesireHatch, the residue of his personal estate. To his twograndchildren, Ebenezer and Sarah, children of his son EbenezerHatch, deceased, 1s. each, he having given his son Ebenezer asufficient portion in his life time. To his grandchildrenEdmond, Jabez, Josiah, Desire, Zurviah and Mary Hatch, childrenof his son Josiah Hatch, deceased, one sixth of one-third eachof his undivided lands in Rochester, he having given his sonJosiah a sufficient portion in his life time. The othertwo-thirds of the lands in Rochester to his sons Elisha andEzekial Hatch, "having already given them a considerable portionin lands." Executor: son Isaac Hatch. Witnesses: John Cushing,Junr., Deborah Wheten, Susanna Morey.
