Narrative
John Bassett, second son of John, the settler, was a farmer andschool-teacher. For twenty-eight successive years he had chargeof winter district schools, and during that period taught a fewterms in the summer. He became the owner of a farm on theborders of Wolfeborough and Tuftonborough, the dividing linebetween the two towns passing through his house. Here he resideda number of years, but afterwards purchased theThomas-Townsend-Fox-Tuttle farm, now occupied by his son GeorgeW. Bassett. His son John Newell Bassett then took posession ofthe Wolfeborough-Tuftonborough farm, where he reared a family.Mr. Bassett married Ruth Wiggin, a daughter of James Wiggin, andhad children as follows: Daniel W., John N., Charles D., Ruth,Gulielma, James, and George W.
