John Goodwin was a petitioner with Miles and Samuel Goodwin in1752 from Penobscot. Miles and Samuel were apparently those ofthat name of the third generation and sons of Daniel. Neither ofthem had a son John so far as I can learn nor can I find a Johnof their generation except their cousin, John, who marriedPatience Willoughby and resided in Berwick. Inasmuch as thisJohn was contemporary with Miles and Samuel and was not theirbrother, there is only one conclusion to be drawn and that isthat he was a son of one of their father's brothers, and theonly one to whom he could belong as far as our knowledge nowgoes is to James.
