Note: Stephen Skeffe's will names "granddaughter Kezia." It isalmost certain that she is not a legitimate child of any ofStephen's children. It is virtually certain she is the Kezia whomarried Edmund Freeman of Sandwich. Frederick Freeman, FreemanGenealogy, 1875, p. 45 calls her Kezia Presbury but does notname her parents. One theory is that she is the daughter ofStephen Presbury before he married Deborah Skeffe. If theirgravestones are correct this seems very unlikely. If StephenSkeffe was age 58 when he died 17 May 1730, then he was bornabout 1672. If Keziah was age 77 when she died 20 Apr 1764, shewas born about 1686 (g.s. Old Storrs Cemetery, Mansfield, CT).This would make Stephen a father at age 16, almost unheard of inthose days. Note that Stephen did not name Kezia in his will. Analternative theory is that she is Deborah's illegitimate dau.Deborah woul have been 18 at the time of Keziah's birth andwould not marry for another 7 years. Deborah's father does nameKeziah in his will and almost certainly raised her.
