French diessuddenly - William Henry French was born in Ripley county,Indiana in 1855 and died at his home seven miles south of ElkPoint, Union county, SD., on April 30, 1927, being 71 years, 11months, 21 days at the time of his death. Death came to him lastSaturday morning about 7 o'clock while watering his team ofhorses on his way to work in the field and was caused from heartfailure. He son, Dave, saw the team running from the water tankand on arriving there he found his father dead. He moved withhis parents to Postville, Allamakee county, Iowa at the age ofseven and there grew to manhood. He was united in marriage toKatharine Duggins on October 14, 1874 and moved to Union countyin the fall of 1883 where he has since resided. He leaves tomourn his loss a loving wife and eight children, one, Mrs EmmaDerochier, preceded him death three years ago last January. Theother children are David at home Edward of Elk Point, Sylvesterand Robert of Jefferson, Mrs. M. J. Keller, Whitney, Nebr.,George, Tabor, SD James and Mrs. Lucy Trudeau of Elk Point. Also28 grandchildren and one great grand child. He was a home-lovingman a good neighbor and a friend to all who came his way. Hehas gone, but not to be forgotten. The funeral was held at theMethodist church, Tuesday, May 3 at 2:30 pm Rev. Wm Strongofficiating. Burial was made in the Elk Point cemetery.
