Narrative
William Hutchinson was christened 14 August 1586 in Alford,Lincolnshire, England. He married Anne Marbury, the daughter ofReverend Francis and Bridget (Dryden) Marbury, in London on 9August 1612. They resided in Alford until 1634 when theyemigrated to New England, residing first in Boston,Massachusetts. After 1637, when his wife was excommunicated andbanished they removed to Newport, Rhode Island. Anne was the"leader" of the Antimonian Controversy and much is written ofher in contemporary, as well as colonial history. William diedabout 1642. His widow moved to Pelham Bay, Long Island, New Yorkand along with other family members was massacred by the Indiansin September, 1643.
