Narrative
Jesse Higgins moved with his parents from Eastham to MiddletownConn. about 1740. They settled on the east side of the Conn.River in Middle Haddam parish. Jesse was a private in theFrench and Indian war, being in the 6 Co. Capt Gaylord of 1Reg., commanded by Col. Phineas Lyman. Dates of service- 1 Apr1758 to 19 Sept 1758, 19 Sept 1758 to 21 Nov 1758, 24 March1759 to 16 Dec 1759. He was a private in the 8 Co. in theLexington Alarm, Apr 17 1775; also in 2 Reg. Gen Spencers, 11May to Dec 1775, enlisted 17 Mar 1778 in Judd's Co. He appearsto have held a small plot of land in the parish of Middle Haddamwhere he lived when not serving elsewhere. His first marriagewas unhappy and there were no children.
