He escaped Indian massacre of his family at Georgetown,Massachusetts (then Rowley), on 23 October 1692, which occurredwhen he and a brother were away from home. He was in Berwick by27 March 1700, when he witnessed a deed from Thomas Abbot, Sr.to his son John. Josiah served in the Indian Wars from Berwickin 1704. He bought land there 10 May 1703, and on 27 August 1709he obtained 10 acres from the town which he sold for pounds 80to Joseph Ricker on 10 June 1749. Josiah Goodridge appeared onthe list of Berwick taxpayers in 1713 with a "towne rate" of 4s6d.
