"Commodore"John McKusick was quartermaster aboard the"Reprisal", a privateer which sailed from Rhode Island duringthe 1740s. He is listed on the ship's log as being fromPortsmouth,NH and his name is spelled the same as we do now. There was a John "MacKisick" who was married in Boston, MA toAgnes Hogg in 1733 and had children baptized there before 1736.He was also married to an Elizabeth Thomas in 1749, all eventsbeing recorded by the Rev. Mr. Moorehead. It is possible thatthis is the same John, and that he had three families; however, there is not sufficient evidence to prove it one way or theother.
