Taken from Frost genealogy by Norman Frost: On Sunday afternoon,4 july 1697 the Indians ambushed Maj FROST, his wife and twosons, John HEARD and his wife, Phebe and Dennis DOWNING werereturning from Sunday meeting. A mile from the garrison a partyof Indians had formed an ambush near a large rock at the sideof the road.When the party approached they were fired upon. MajFROST and DOWNING were killed, and Phebe (LITTLEFIELD) HEARD wasmortally wounded. John tried to put her on a horse, but shebegged him to leave her and save the children at home. The restof the party escaped. The site of this attack is now known as"AMBUSH ROCK". Its located near Eliot, Maine.
