Narrative
Giles Hopkins left land and cattle to son Stephen with conditionthat "after my decease my son Stephen Hopkins shall take ye careand oversight and maintaine my son William Hopkins during hisnatural Life in a comfortable decent manner"; Giles also lefttwo acres to his wife and son William for their life use, to goto son Joshua upon their deaths; William was evidently unm. andd.s.p. after 5 march 1688/9; no proof has been found and itappears most unlikely that this man was identical with WilliamHopkins (1660-1718) of Shelter island, NY, who m. RebeccaHavens.
