Captain James Luther Long, 1854 [cemetery says 1858] - 1944."Captain Jim" is the son of Nathaniel S. Long and EnicyLittlefield Long. In his youth he worked on stone sloopsbuilding Bug Light in Portland Harbor and the Richmond IslandSea Wall, etc. He was on the sloop TWILIGHT at one period. Heis, however, most widely known as the long time captain on theCasco Bay Lines. He started out on the first regular steamer toChebeague, the GORDON [ex SEA FLOWER], followed by theMERICONEAG, SEBASCODEGAN, CHEBEAGUE, AUCOCISCO, MADELON,PILGRIM, MACHIGONNE, etc.
