Narrative

Sarah Tarbell, it would seem, was incorrectly named as Francis'wife for the first time in John D. Ames' article "A Genealogy ofthe Nurse Family, which was published in Putnam's MonthlyHistorical Magazine (new series, 1 [1872]:96-102). Regretfully,this error seems to have been perpetuated in later works untilthe will of John Craggen was discovered. More regretful is thefact that we still see Sarah Tarbell being erroneously named asthe wife of Francis Nurse on some of the various internetwebsites.
