Narrative
Early Chapin Data As Derived From The English Records -Ancestors of Deacon Samuel Chapin - Until the records given onthe preceding pages were discovered, nothing was known of theparentage of Deacon Samuel Chapin or his wife Cicely. Fromthese, however, it appears that Samuel was the son of John andPhillipe (Easton) Chapin anf that Cicely was the daughter ofHenry and Jane Penney. John Chapin and Phillipe Easton weremarried 14 September 1590. The baptismal dates appear of Samuel, son of John Chapin, 8 October 1598, and of Cicely, daughter ofHenry Penney, 21 February 1601. Samuel Chapin and Cicely Penneywere married 9 February 1623. Their son, David, was christened 4January 1624. These facts are further confirmed by the will ofHenry Penney, dated 6 April 1630, in which he speaks of "CicelyChapin, my daughter" and also mentions David Chapin, my nephew,Katherine Chapin and Sarah Chapin.
