Narrative
Joseph Jewett, with his wife Mary, and one or two children, cameto America with his older brother, Maximilian, in the ship Johnin the fall of 1638, and settled in Rowley, Mass., in 1639. Hewas made freeman May 22, 1639. He became a large land owner andone of the leading men of the town, was representative to theGeneral Court in 1651, 1652, 1653, 1654, and 1660, and was oneof the two stewards for each of these sessions.
