Narrative
Thomas Cushman's name appears in several lists of freemen' hewas a surveyor of highways a number of years for the town ofPlymouth. The homestead where he lived and died consisted of alarge farm, with numerous buildings, lying on both sides ofColchester Brook at the west of the highway running northwardfrom the meeting-house at Plympton. This site originally was inPlymouth, but when Plympton was set off, in 1707, the divisionbrought it within the limits of the new town. Thomas Cushman andhis wife Abigail were members of the Congregational Church atPlmpton, of which his brother Isaac was pastor.
