Narrative
At the age of 13, James had the honor of piloting the first shipthat sailed up the Kennebec from Bath to Gardiner, ME. Two yearslater he enlisted in the Continental Army and served in theranks until 1779.James and Mercy (Austin) Labree's first child was born Jun 18,1783 (Mary). They moved to Monmouth about 1789 with her father,William Austin.
