Narrative
Bloomfield Philip Crandall came to California in the early1850's. Up until then he had lived in New York. His mother diedand left the children. His father remarried. Bloomfield did notlike his step-mother and he ran away. A Jewish family took himin and raised him. They were very good to him and he always hada great and he always had a great love and respect for them. Heworked and took care of himself from the time he was 14 yearsold and finally met Bridget Gilronen, and Irish Catholic girl.,who had not been in the country very long. They soon fell inlove and were married in the old St. Patrick's Church. Threechildren were born to them. Bloomfield and his three childrenwere baptised in St. Patrick's Church and the records are stillthere.
