William French, 83, 2801 Boies Street, died Thursday, Feb. 9,1995, at Westwood Convalescent Home following a lengthy illness.Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Riverside UnitedMethodist Church with the Rev. Merrill Muller officiating.Burial Will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 10a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday, with Masonic services by NorthRiverside Masonic Lodge 662, at Berkemier Funeral Home. He wasborn Oct. 30, 1911, in rural Elk Point, SD, the son of Sylvester"Wes" and Rose (Fenton) French. He attended the Island Schoolat Jefferson, SD He married Loretta Anderson March 3, 1933, atthe Methodist Parsonage in Elk Point following their marriageand then moved to Sioux City in 1934. In 1941 they moved to theSnohomish-Paulsbo Washington area. In 1945 they bought a farmin Sioux Township, Westfield, Iowa, where they resided until1980 when they moved to Rialto, Calif. In 1985 they returned toSioux City. He entered the Westwood Convalescent Center in May1994. He was employed by the Sioux City Street Department, andthen was employed in dairy farming. He worked in Grant Center,Iowa, and Jefferson, SD, before farming in Westfield, Iowa. Inaddition to farming, he drove the school bus for the WestfieldCommunity School and worked at NIxon Feed Co. Mr. French was amember of Riverside United Methodist Church, North RiversideMasonic Lodge 662, A.F. & A.M., and was past worthy patron ofthe Silver Chapter, Order of Eastern Star. Survivors include hiswife; a daughter and her husband, Verna and Ralph Follman ofBloomington, Calif; a foster son and his wife, Paul and MarciaBrandt of rural Westfield; three sisters, Katherine and herbusband Howard Lilly of Magnolia, Iowa, Edna Homer of MosesLake, Wash., and Flora Engstrom of Hawaii; two brothers, Lloydof Yakima, Wash., and Francis of Seattle, Wash.; fourgrandchildren, Paris, David and Matthew Follman of Bloomington,Calif., and Dimitra Brandt of Westfiled, Iowa; and agreat-granddaughter.
