Narrative
The mother of Horace's wife, Amy Wiltse, died shortly after thebirth of Amy who was raised by her aunt Ruth Wilbur Hitchcock,wife of Horaces elder brother, James. James moved his family toHumphery NY in 1831/2, where it is assumed Horace and Amy wereeventually married. Horace and Amy then went to Michagan afterhearing from friends it was a good place to live. However,after the death of thier first son, who was born 12/31/1848 anddied there 8/20/1849, Amy insisted on returning to Humphery.Horace became a prosperous farmer on the Five Mile, Alleganey.
