He built the house where his daughterNellie Hill Hamilton now lives. He built the sloop ANNIE MAYand named it after his daughter. Later when he was captain ofthe ISLAND BELLE and after he had lost his first wife, he tookhis daughters, Nellie and Bessie, slooping with him during theirsummer vacations. His son Freeland crewed.
