About 1638, Isaac Health was made ruling elder. The rulingelder held an elevated seat between the deacon's seat and thepulpit; this office was appointed for life. Isaac Healthassisted the Apostle Eliot in his work with the Indians,accompanying him on his journies into the wilderness andteaching the natives the word of God.The Apostle Eliot, Rev. Samuel Danforth, and Isaac Heath werethe delegates from Roxbury who attended the council at Boston on26 Sep 1659, which heard the grievances of the "withdrawers"regarding the "rigid handling of the Rev. Sam'l Stone of theFirst Church of Hartford."
