Narrative
"She was apprenticed to Henry Bachelor, brewer, of Dover....On apassenger list of 1637 is Henry Bachelour of Dover, brewer, andwife Martha and servants: John Bucke, Susan Bucke, SamuelTaylor, Marjorie Walkder, (reading doubtful). ... As theBacehlors were friends, Susanna was probably brought up in thatsociety. In Essex Co. Court Records, we find that after Susannacame out of her apprenticeship, Henry Bachelor sued her forslander, but lost that suit. She retaliated by suing him fordetaining her baggage."
