Narrative

Richard Bailey, son of Godfrey Bailey and brother of James, longbelieved to be the Richard who came on the "Bevis" in 1638 atage 15, is now believed to be the Richard who was christened 21Aug 1614 in the Bradford Parsih of York, England. He was buried16:12mo. 1647 in Rowley, Massachusetts. He brought with him toRowley, his wife Edna Halstead born, it is believed, in HalifaxParish, West Riding, Yorkshire, England. They settled in Rowleyin the early 1640's where he was one of the company that set upthe first cloth mill in America. After Richard's death, Ednamarried 1 Dec 1648, Ezekial Northend, who was christened inRowley Parish, Yorkshire, England on 10 Feb 1621. He died 7 Sep1698 in Rowley where Edna also died, 3 Feb 1705/1706.Estate of Richard Bailey of Rowley"Rowley 15 of the last 1647.
